Albert Museum In London: Among the buildings erected are the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert museum in London Museum), the Natural History Museum, the Imperial Institute (demolished except for the tower), the Imperial College, and the Royal Albert museum in London Hall. This last was completed in 1871, ten years after the death of Prince Albert museum in London. Its original purpose was "for the advancement of the Arts and Sciences and works of industry of all nations." It remains an important venue for concerts of classical and popular music, sporting events, and gatherings of large national and international organizations.
Gun collecting is especially popular in the United States, where there are more than 100 jiin-collecting associations. The Arms and Armour Club of Great Britain is important, as ire various collector groups on the European nent. London is noted for its outstanding ions of antique weapons. Here also are the ive Tower of London Armouries and Victoria and Albert museum in London Museum collection. In Paris great Musee de 1'Armee is housed in the H'tel des Invalides. Austria, Belgium, Germany, jioiy, Spain, and Switzerland also have important collections.
