Baseboard And Picture Molding:

Baseboard And Picture Molding First, measure the distance from the baseboard to the picture molding or ceiling, depending on how far up the Wall you are papering. Then measure the total distance around the room, taking into account standard (but not picture) windows. If you have picture windows, deduct their area from your calculations.

Q Use the edge of the closed scissors to press the paper firmly into the top edge, baseboard, and picture molding. Press very lightly to avoid tearing the damp paper. Use scissors rather than a Knife for trimming, again to avoid tearing the paper. Pull the paper away from the Wall just far enough to allow you to position the scissors and then cut about Xin (3mm) outside the score mark. With the paper back in place. Repeat this at the dado and/or baseboard end of the length of paper. To trim heavy vinyls and heavy papers, you can use a very sharp Knife and steel straightedge. Once you have creased the vinyl or paper to form a guideline, place the straightedge just above the crease and cut with the knife.

Your hand across to the right to secure the top of the paper to the wall. With the paper correctly positioned, take the smoothing brush and run it down the middle of the length, pressing the paper lightly to the wall. Now use the brush in light, outward strokes until the length is in place. About 1 in (2.5cm) of paper should have turned onto the window wall. Lightly press this into place, ensuring that there are no wrinkles. Don't force the paper down at the baseboard and picture molding in the corner, since you still have to trim the paper. If the turned edge seems dry, apply a little extra paste. Before trimming, smooth the paper again from the middle out, making sure that the edges are securely stuck down. Lightly dab any bubbles flat and leave the paper to dry. Bubbles usually disappear as the paper shrinks and tightens.
