The Heinz Architectural Center's first exhibition to focus on a single vernacular building type, Barns of Western Pennsylvania: Vernacular to Spectacular presents a wide variety of objects to reveal the complexity of a deceptively straightforward building form.
The exhibition will explore the process behind the artistry of his work and focus on four elements that make Macaulay's drawings a success: his visual research, inventive perspectives, ability to reveal structural realities, and playful imagination.
Macaulay's fun and engaging style will also inform a series of family-friendly activities designed to reinforce each of the four main themes.
