Although a few sapphires have been mined from crystalline rocks, the great majority have come from placer deposits in stream beds. Prior to World War I they were extensively mined for use as jewel bearings in watches and electrical measuring instruments such as household meters. Producers of the fine art called Furnishings Shows in Providence, Rhode Island and Milwaukee, Wisconsin are accepting applications from artisans interested in being invited to exhibit.
Each fine art called Furnishings Show presents a marketplace for handcrafted furniture, decorative accessories and original art.
The First Annual fine art called Furnishings Milwaukee Show takes place September 23 & 24, 2006 at the Midwest Airline Center.
