Scientific Studies. Scientific investigations of andwriting in relation to personality have con-nued along with popularized analysis. For ex-mple, a 19th century German investigator, Lud-/ig Klages, discredited the isolated Signs ap-Toach. He stated that meaningful interpreta-ions were possible only if Signs were integrated ito patterns. The French psychologist Alfred linet tried to make an experimental test of the alidity of graphology. Using writing samples rom 37 highly successful men and 37 less out-tanding men, he asked seven graphologists to istinguish the groups. One graphologist was orrect in Q2% of his diagnoses, and in general le results suggested that the analysts were able } draw correct inferences from handwriting.
