Illustrates The History: This is displayed in part of Fig. 1, which illustrates the electrical activity in single sensory nerves. In these diagrams time is represented on the horizontal axis, and the voltage of the activity is represented by the height of the vertical spikes. Diagrams A, B, and C represent part of the train of neural responses to a long-continuing stimulus. The stimulus in A is strong, in B intermediate, and in C weak. Notice that the amplitude of the responses remains constant, but the frequency diminishes as the stimulus intensity decreases. This illustrates the all-or-none law.
Rome's many museums possess some of the greatest art treasures of the world. The Vatican Museums of Antiquity contain the finest and greatest collections of classical material. The Museo Nazionale Romano, built on the site of Diocletian's Baths, and the Museo Capitolino contain much classical sculpture. The Museo di Roma illustrates the history of the city. The Magazzino Archeologico has a collection of locally excavated materials. There are Etruscan paintings at the Villa Torlonia. The Museo Tor-Ionia contains excavated Greek and Roman sculptures. The Museo Laterano has interesting sarcophagi found in the basilicas and catacombs. The Casino of the Villa Borghese, purchased by the city in 1902, has an exceptional art collection.
His History of Ionian Philosophy(1821) ; History of the Pythagorean Philosophy (1826), and Notes on the Philosophy of the Megarean School in the Rheinisches Museum, are models of historical investigation on the principles of Schleiermacher. His historical masterpiece is the History of Philosophy (1829-53), which deals with general history up to the time of Kant.
