Modern Art 19th: modern art 19th Styles. Until the early 19th century, Europe had venerated only antique styles, but romanticism extended public interest to medieval and Renaissance styles as well. Although, in a purist spirit, 19th century designers sometimes attempted to re-create past styles authentically, they more often practiced eclecticism. They also had to compromise in their designs for an industrialized art as the processes of production became mechanized.
The development of modern art 19th mass media in China followed the intrusion of the Western countries into China in the 19th century. The traditional-style Peking gazette, a court transcript (kung-men ctiao), a provincial official paper (yuan-men ch'ao), and even private newsletters specializing in the news of the court, edicts, and memorials, existed in 19th century China, but they were intended for officialdom and not for the public at large. The reading public was at most 10 to 20 million, and perhaps several tens of thousands of copies of gazettes were circulated.
The coexistence of these two kinds of music so different in character, the one imported and the other indigenous, became a real problem in modern art 19th Greek composition.Composers of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
