Goldmark taught piano and theory at the National Conservatory of Music in New York from 1891 to 1893 and was director of the Colorado Conservatory of Music from 1895 to 1901. On his return to New York in 1902 he taught privately until 1924, when he became director of composition at the Juilliard graduate school. His compositions include Hiawatha (1900), Samson (1914), and Gettysburg Requiem (1919). He died in New York on March 6, 1936.
