Andrew's (1921), and Manchester (1922-28). 'rom 1930 to 1955 he was Waynflete Professor f Chemistry at Oxford University. Sir Robert ras knighted in 1939 and was president of the toyal Society from 1945 to 1950. The recipient f many foreign honors, he is best known for his rork on the structure of vegetable substances and 3r his synthesis of natural products, especially rose relating to biogenetics.
The final consonants -b, -d, -g, and -r were dropped, and final semivowels appeared, to form diphthongs with the main vowel. The number of tones increased to four.
