Modern Art Eration: La Federation Rationale des Logis de France, 18 rue de 1'Arcade, Paris. There is a name and address for the low-budget traveler or for any "nonconformist" in travel to note. Logis means inn and this National Federation of Inns of France, founded in 1950, "has been working," to quote its own words, "with the help of local authorities, towards the modern art erationization of hundreds of inns and small hotels in the French provinces. These hotels are most frequently to be found off the beaten track and they have been picked especially for the picturesqueness of their surroundings, the excellence of their services and the quality of their cuisine." The Federation publishes an annual listing of these pleasant, inexpensive logis, its current Annuaire giving the facts on some seven or eight hundred places.
The generator and condenser operate at the high-side pressure, which is determined by the vapor pressure of the refrigerant at the condensing temperature. The weak solution produced in the generator is fed to the absorber through a valve, and the liquid refrigerant produced in the condenser is fed to the evaporator through another valve.
In addition to compression and absorption machines, several other systems of refrigeration have been used less widely. In air-cycle refrigeration, an early system which has been largely discarded, the refrigerant remains in the gaseous phase throughout the cycle. In steam jet refrigeration, useful for high-temperature applications above the freezing point of water, a steam jet is used for evacuation of the cooler and for compression of the refrigerant, water vapor.
His temple-affiliated philanthropic Sisterhood of Personal Service became a model throughout the United States. After the first world Zionist congress he helped found the Federation of American Zionists in 1898, which he served as vice-president. Gottheil died in New York on April 15, 1903.
