One trick which helps in posing a very small infant is to put the baby on the seat of a straight-backed chair and then drape a blanket around the baby up to his middle. The mother puts her hand under the blanket, where it will be concealed, and supports the infant while you take the picture. If she kneels on the Floor beside the chair she will not show at all in the picture. Parents often like such a pose because the child looks stronger and more developed for his age than he really is.
