Picture ": His adaptation of "Las Meninas" (p. 84) of 17 August 1957 was one in a series of 44 variations on the same picture ", all of which had taken shape as a result of a careful analysis of individual figures and the painting as a whole. It had been over half a century before, that Pablo had admired Velazquez's original of 1656 in the Prado. Picasso may have been inspired by the Spanish tradition of this picture ", its worldwide fame, and the theme "painter and studio".
Each spread, too, has a "key" picture " or diagram in the top right-hand corner. The purpose of the key picture " is twofold: it summarises the story of the spread visually and it is intended to act as a memory stimulator to help you to recall all the integrated facts and picture "s on a given subject.
Finally, each spread has a box of connections headed "See Also" and, sometimes, "Read First". These are cross-reference suggestions to other connecting spreads. The "Read Firsts" normally appear only on spreads with particularly complicated subjects and indicate that you might like to learn to swim a little in the elementary principles of a subject before being dropped in the deep end.

He composed it in his finder, and perhaps also cropped and enlarged to get the picture " you see. Look at picture "s with this in mind, and determine why they were made and presented as you see them.

Whether you are looking at your own or someone else's picture, ask yourself these questions. Is it pleasing to look at; that is, are the objects so related in position as to create an agreeable effect? Can you tell at a glance what the picture " portrays?
If you can say "yes" to these
questions, it is safe to assume that the picture " has reasonably good composition. More important, it is enjoyable and satisfying.
