Picture Scoop:

Picture Scoop This is an excellent way of serving a melon which is imperfect in one small place. Halve the melon, remove the seeds, then scoop out the flesh with a vegetable scoop or cut it away from the skin and dice neatly. Put into glasses and sprinkle with sugar. Add either a little orange juice, lemon juice or sherry. Serve as cold as possible. Decorate each glass with a sprig of fresh mint and/or glac6 or maraschino cherries.

Sensing the exact instant to release the shutter becomes instinctive. A second's hesitation, and a picture scoop may be missed. When William Warnecke of the New York World went on a routine assignment to photograph Mayor William J. Gaynor of New York as he was about to sail to Europe on a vacation in 1910, he arrived late, after the other cameramen had left. Hurriedly he asked the Mayor for a last minute pose. Just then an assassin fired two shots from a revolver at the Mayor. Warnecke, in the midst of the confusion, remained cool, and photographed that sickening moment when the victim-who, fortunately, was not mortally wounded-staggered into the arms of his companion.
