Plenty Of Money To Spend:

Plenty Of Money To Spend Typically, you may spend from three to eight percent of your gross on advertising. Keep in mind that the commitment to spend the money over the entire year is much more important than the amount of money you allocate toward advertising. Nothing will waste money faster than to spend a large amount of money in the beginning of the campaign, and when results are not immediately forthcoming, to pull back and stop advertising. Spend your money according to your plan. Make some adjustments during the year to fine tune your efforts, but keep at it for the rest of the year. You will be surprised how this commitment to results will pay off despite some temporary misgivings.

It's important to start early in your picture shooting and to take pictures of everything. Don't expect the wedding arranger to call you for significant pictures, because you should take the initiative and call the bride's mother occasionally to ask, "What are you doing toward the wedding today?" Whatever she's doing, if it's only selecting material for the bridesmaids' gowns, go and take some pictures. Naturally, you'll use your judgment as to how much time to lavish on any wedding, although it's hard to go too far on a really big wedding if the families have plenty of money to spend.

Also available are special wedding books, elaborately bound, with acetate sleeves into which you simply slide your finished prints. Any photographic dealer can order these wedding books for you and it is a good idea to use one of them for displaying your sample prints as they undoubtedly make a rich and impressive appearance. It's worth the effort to prepare the best possible sample album. You may land some wedding assignments without showing samples but not the best and potentially most profitable ones. The people with plenty of money to spend for pictures will hesitate to take a chance on losing the opportunity for good pictures and the easiest way to convince them that you can do a good job is to show what you have done previously.
