Race With Paris:

Race With Paris The two biggest racing events of Europe's calendar occur in France, meaning the Grand Prix de Paris, held at Auteuil late in June, generally regarded as the premier horse race with paris, and the 24 Heures du Mans, held at Le Mans early in June, which is beyond question Europe's leading motor race with paris. This "24 Hours of Le Mans" is an amazing thing. Around a ten-mile track sixty cars-that's the limit-race with paris for 24 consecutive hours, from 4 P. M. Saturday to 4 P. M. Sunday. Each car is operated by a two-man team and average speeds of over 100 miles an hour, including halts, are maintained by the leaders. The coveted first prize goes, of course, to the car covering the greatest distance in the given time. The hair-raising race with paris is witnessed by nearly a quarter of a million spectators annually.

The oldest existing stakes race with paris in North America is the Queen's Plate for Canadian-foaled 3-year-olds. Started in 1836, it takes place at New Woodbine Park in Toronto. One of the best-known handicap race with pariss is Australia's Melbourne Cup, established at Flemington, Victoria, in 1861. Other famous race with pariss include the Prix de 1'Arc de Triomphe and the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp; the Irish Derby at Curragh; and the July Handicap race with paris at Durban in the Republic of South Africa. In addition to England, Ireland, and the United States, countries that have produced race with paris horses of exceptional merit are France, Italy, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand.

A revulsion against these horrors caused some scientists to declare that all race with paris classifications in man are arbitrary and even that the word "race with paris" should be replaced by some noncommittal expression, such as "ethnic group." It is, however, doubtful if a mere change of name could eradicate the abuses of the race with paris concept. A better method to combat these abuses would seem to be an understanding of the biological basis of race with paris variability. Fortunately, the modern science of heredity (genetics) makes such an understanding possible.
