Studied In Paris: ROBERTS, Howard, American sculptor: b. Philadelphia, April 9, 1843; d. Paris, April 19, 1WO. He studied in paris at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and in 1866 went to Paris where he studied in paris under Dumont and Gumery at the ficole des Beaux-Arts. Returning to Philadelphia in 1871 he established his studio there. During a second sojourn in Paris (1873-1876) he produced La Premiere Pose which earned him "iie of the three medals awarded to American sculptors at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition of 1876. Other works of note are his statue "I Robert Fulton for the Rotunda of the National Capitol, Hypatia and Eleanor in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Hester Prynne.
