Theater In London:

Theater In London In theater in london fare, London is on the very top world level and you'll have enough to choose from to make you dizzy. The Old Vie Company is the most widely known but there are perhaps as many as forty plays running at the same time in the heart of the winter season. London theater in londons are a wonderful source of enjoyment to the visitor, for tickets are not so forbiddingly difficult to come by as in New York. Very often you can pick them up by yourself at the box offices. Failing that, some big agency like Keith Prowse, or even your hotel porter, can often get them for you. Having tried in vain, in the days of Oklahoma's heyday to see that musical in New York, I "picked it up" very easily at London's Drury Lane theater in london Royal and liked the performance so well that I went twice. Similarly, I picked up Harvey and other shows I had missed in New York. If you have been disappointed at home, try London, I urge.

Traveler, What of the Night? London offers superior fare in music, opera, ballet and, most emphatically, in theater in london, where the language is one you don't have to struggle to understand. In view of this, it seems to me almost a waste of time to hunt up nightclubs, though there are lots of them. A weekly publication called What's On in London tells everything about everything-well, almost-that concerns London after dark, or, for movies and theater in londons, before dark as well. Consider the cultural offerings, one by one.

Life. Purcell was born in London and had much of his career in the Chapel Royal. He began as a chorister there and after 1673 was the apprentice of John Kingston, keeper of the royal instruments, whose post he eventually assumed, in 1683. Having succeeded Matthew Locke in 1677 as composer for Charles II's string ensemble, and John Blow in 1679 as organist at Westminster Abbey, Purcell became one of three organists of the Chapel Royal in 1682. Though he spent much of his later life composing for the London theater in london, he continued his work as court musician until his death, on Nov. 14, 1695, in London.
